Forest Ferns Under the Light of a Blue Moon

In album Project 52 B&W

You don't see this sight very often. Strictly this should be black and white but when you have the light from the blue moon, you can't waste it! Silhouetted ferns for this week's theme.

Orchid

In album Project 52 B&W

This orchid was photographed using focus stacking technique – 40 macro shots stacked to create a depth of field that is impossible to achieve any other way.

For those interested in the technical information, I used the 180mm Canon macro lens with the camera attached to a Stack Shot focusing rail and using Zerene Stacker to combine all the file information into one finely detailed shot.

Stanley Rule & Level Company Compass Plane #113

In album Project 52 B&W

This plane dates from the third quarter of the 1800's most likely, although it is not possible to put a precise date on it. It is a wonderfully engineered tool that has a flexible adjustable sole and can plane concave as well as convex surfaces. It still gets a workout from time to time in my workshop.

The Way We Were

In album Project 52 B&W

These old steel rimmed spectacles have a slight rusting on the surface but otherwise are in pristine condition. They are stored in this wooden case and probably date from the 1800's though I can find no information about them. Makes us reflect on times long forgotten. It makes me curious as to what might have been seen through these – and by whom!
