Stanley Rule & Level Company Compass Plane #113

In album Project 52 B&W

This plane dates from the third quarter of the 1800's most likely, although it is not possible to put a precise date on it. It is a wonderfully engineered tool that has a flexible adjustable sole and can plane concave as well as convex surfaces. It still gets a workout from time to time in my workshop.

  1. Before I read the device's description, it looked to me like a steampunked rocking horse made from old tool parts.   The round piece on the upper left being the seat and the half bulbous piece to the right side is the horse head and the curved bottom is the rocking mechanism.  Nice B&W +Steven Kennard !
