Blomidon from Kingsport Beach at Low Tide

That particular day there was a storm threatening as the late afternoon light was shining on the water. The tide was almost fully out so we were walking actually on the bay floor. It is a strange feeling, to know that in only a very short time, all the flat sands will be once again under the water.

STEVEN KENNARD – As the Wood Turns! Posted on July 26, 2014 by Grapevine in Cover Articles, The Who’s Who. This Who’s Who was both a blast from the past and a very fortunate boost to the present for me. I have known Steven Kennard since about 1998 and it’s been a pleasure catching up with him.

Arthur Comes to Canning

As of last night I believe that everyone in the area now has their power restored. This was taken at the (blocked) entry to Canning on the night of the storm, last week. Roads were blocked, trees had fallen onto electricity and phone lines, so most people had neither. Which meant for many people in the area that they also didn't have water (as most living outside of the main town limits rely on wells and electric pumps). Which for many meant that they didn't have drinking or washing or cooking water, but also couldn't flush toilets. And for many people that situation lasted for 5 days. On top of this many people suffered some damage to property and lost a lot of mature trees, pulled down by the force of the wind in the branches that were heavy with strong early summer leaves.

Now it's all over. But the effects will be around for some time to come and the cleanup is only just begun.

Ellie on Long Beach (Nova Scotia) at Sunset

There we were, all unsuspecting, the night of the raccoon fiasco, enjoying a calm evening on the beach.
