The second gallery, entitled “Collaborative Work” contains images of the “Medusa” piece created in collaboration with metal artist, Elizabeth Goluch.
Medusa is a unique piece, celebrating the extraordinary and intricate craftsmanship of these two multi award winning Nova Scotia artists. This piece was exhibited at the “Collaboration” exhibition at the Mary E. Black Gallery, Nova Scotia’s Provincial gallery in the summer of 2010. The materials used were silver and African blackwood with the interior of the top in snakewood. The “Medusa” head is a pendant, cast in silver with the snakes loosely connected so that they can move about. The chain is comprised of intertwined snakes.
The Medusa pendant is winner of the Metal Arts Guild 2010 competition in its class ‘reversible pendant’ and Elizabeth Goluch was also awarded Best in Show in that competition.
