The Odd One Out

This girl was the only one of her breed on the dairy farm near where we live. The rest of the cows are Jerseys. The reason they always have one like her is that when their mother came to the farm to marry their father, she was given one of these cattle to bring with her. So it is a sentimental tradtion that they like to keep up. She also likes to wear odd earrings! (That's because she's a modern girl, of course.)

It is quite amazing the advances that have been made in digital photography since the days when I took this picture on my Canon D30, Canon’s first DSLR camera to be released, sporting a massive 3 MP sensor!

At the time I was shooting in jpg (ouch) as I was not yet aware of the advantages of raw images. I became so, shortly afterwards. 

This was my first (and only so far) trip to Niagara Falls. The falls that you see in the distance are on the US side, while the Maid of the Mist is heading toward the Canadian falls which are to my right and behind where I was standing.
