Inside the Ice

In album Weekly Photo Project 2013 (3 photos)

Magnified roughly three times life size, taken with the Canon EF MP-E65. The ice on the windows was melting fast, I caught some wonderful sculptures before it dissolved into plain old water.

The theme is Rule of Thirds for this week.

  1. Thanks +Dion V Glad you like it. It's a great lens but not that easy to use. The depth of field is unbelievably shallow so for some subjects you might consider focus stacking. I'm sure you would enjoy it if you don't mind spending a bit of time fussing over your shots

  2. I'd heard something like that. I was originally considering a 100mm macro, but I have a feeling the MP-E would let me get closer. Gonna have to rent them both at some point and do a comparison.

  3. Five times closer in fact and very close to your subject. There is no auto focus. It all depends on what you want shoot. I use the 180mm macro for a lot of my work and love that too.
