Sad news today that Ron Hynes, iconic Newfoundland Singer Songwriter, “The Man of a Thousand Songs” has died.
I photographed him in 2009 and in 2011. This is from 2009.

Beautiful photograph, so poignant.
And it's a really wonderful photograph, too … the composition offset to the left, the angle of the microphone stand highlighting the angl he's leaning at, the brightness of the big, beautiful guitar, and of course the expression on his face, which is one of those things you could never pose — you have to just get lucky. (But I've never heard of Ron Hynes.)
+Lynn David Newton glad you my photography. I would spend the whole performance with my eye pressed to my camera waiting for the special moments, and if you study the subject closely you are able to predict certain behaviour patterns.
Ron was a big name in this part of the world.
